Server Migration

There are two different methods to perform migration from Nesstar server 3.5 to 4.0.x or from 4.0.x to 4.0.x :

Please note:

Method A - Migrating from server 3.5 to server 4.0.x:

Creating the migration package from server 3.5

  1. Start the configuration tool on the 3.5 server and select  “Customisation => Create customisation bundle”. Click on the “Clean” button.
  2. Once again select “Customisation => Create customisation bundle”

              Use these settings:

  create-customisation-bundle

Importing the migration package into server 4.0.x

  1. In case the Nesstar 3.5 and Nesstar 4.0-server are located on different boxes, remember to copy the migration zip file from the 3.5-instance over to the 4.0 box first.
  2. Start the configuration tool on the 4.x server
  3. Select  “File => Import server from a zip file”. Select the migration zip file you created earlier from server 3.5 and click "Open". This will import the content of the migration zip file into the server.

Method A - Migrating from older 4.0.x server to latest 4.0.x server:

  1. Start the configuration tool on the source server and select

“File => Export server to a zip file”.

  2. Start the configuration tool on the destination server.
  3. select “File => Import server from a zip file”.  Select the migration zip file you created earlier from older 4.0.x server  and click "Open". This will import the content of the migration zip file into the server.

Method B - Migrating from server 3.5 to server 4.0.x:

  6. Click on the "open" button. This will import the content of the migration folder into the server.

Method B - Migrating from older 4.0.x server to latest 4.0.x server :

    <Server-Installation-Folder>\jboss\tmp\<ServerName>\MigrationExportX
Where what's within < > needs to be replaced by appropriate values and X is a number.
  5. Copy this folder to a desired location on the system where the latest server is to be installed.
  6. This MigrationExportX folder can then be imported into a latest server using the "Import server from a folder" approach.
